A spa in the heart of the medina

Lina Ryad & Spa stands on Avenue Hassan I, in the old town's Andalusian quarter. Outa el Hammam square, the Great Mosque and the kasbah are two minutes' walk away, the heart of the medina three.

The spa is the heart of the house. It combines a traditional hammam, oriental baths and a heated indoor pool that you book by the hour, for yourself or for two. The decor plays on the shapes and colours of the mountains, dim lighting and water scents. Treatments use natural and organic products.

The spa opens from 12:00 to 21:00, local time. Prices are published by the house, in dirhams (DH):

  • private heated indoor pool: 200 DH per person per hour;
  • traditional hammam: 400 DH per person;
  • 45-minute massage: 600 DH; 60 minutes: 800 DH;
  • manicure: 200 DH; pedicure: 300 DH;
  • Lina Ritual (hammam, 45-minute massage, facial): 1,500 DH;
  • Grand Ritual (the same, with manicure and pedicure): 2,000 DH.

These are charged on top of the room. Book them on arrival for the end of the day, after the lanes.

Seventeen suites and 300 m² of rooftops

All the rooms are bright junior suites; many look out over the peaks around the town and the medina rooftops. Family rooms are available. Breakfast is included, and the house restaurant serves Moroccan and international food, so there is no need to go out again in the evening. Room service is available.

The roof terraces cover 300 m². That is where to head at the end of the day, when the light falls on the blue houses and the mountains.

Cars cannot reach the door, and there are many steps to climb. Ask the house to meet you with your bags at the edge of the medina.

Sabaro's view

Who it suits: couples who want a riad with a spa in the heart of the blue town, and to do everything on foot.

Strengths: a full spa right in the medina, with a heated pool; the 300 m² terraces; Outa el Hammam square two minutes away; a 4.6/5 rating from nearly 900 Tripadvisor reviews.

Good to know: some guests find the rooms and bathrooms small, and some the pool too cool or poorly maintained; the call to prayer is audible, as everywhere in the medina; pool access and treatments are charged.

Facilities

  • 17 junior suites
  • Indoor swimming pool
  • Traditional hammam and spa
