A beach resort in the city

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira is the Dubai beach resort most woven into the city. It stands on Jumeirah Beach Road in Jumeira 1, facing the Persian Gulf. Around it, on foot or by bike, are places the resorts further down the coast do not have on their doorstep: Jumeirah Mosque and the Etihad Museum a few kilometres away, the J1 area along the seafront, City Walk 10 minutes away by car, and Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall 15 to 20 minutes away.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is about 15 km away, 15 to 20 minutes; Al Maktoum International (DWC) about 55 km. Among the Jumeirah resorts Sabaro has chosen, Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach is its closest neighbour in style, more family-oriented; Bvlgari Resort Dubai, on its island, more secluded.

What's around the hotel

  • Jumeirah Mosque, the only mosque in Dubai open to non-Muslims, six days a week. The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU), a cultural visitor centre, runs tours at 10 am and 2 pm, local time, except on Fridays, for 45 dirhams.
  • The Etihad Museum, in Jumeira 1.
  • J1 and the seafront, reachable by bike from the hotel.

If your stay falls during Ramadan, see the guide to Ramadan in Dubai; for more cultural visits, the Museums and culture theme.

Tasca and the other tables

The hotel's great strength is its food. Tasca by José Avillez, chef José Avillez's restaurant, holds a Michelin star and has its own infinity pool facing the Gulf. The other venues: Netsu by Ross Shonhan and Netsu Bar, Casita by Casa Amor, The Bay, Beluga Restaurant and Lounge, Noor Lounge, Sun Vibe by the pool, The Mandarin Cake Shop and the Club Lounge, reserved for Club rooms and some suites. For more fine dining, see the Food and dining theme.

Which room to choose

The rooms and suites, designed by Jeffrey Wilkes, have an oak-panelled entrance and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Our tip: the Deluxe Sea View Room, for a few extra square metres over the Superior and, above all, the sea and the balcony. The Panoramic View Family Room is in fact two large connecting rooms, with twice-daily housekeeping.

The spa, from age 16

The Spa covers 2,000 m²: nine treatment rooms, including two couples' suites, a hammam-style suite and a sea-facing VIP suite, plus a vitality pool, hammam and sauna. It is for guests aged 16 and over, as is the gym. Forbes Travel Guide (an American guide that rates hotels and spas after anonymous inspections) gives it 5 stars, as it does the hotel. There is also a movement studio and a raised padel court, Sky Padel. See the Spa and wellness theme.

With children

The Little Nomads kids' club, run with Worldwide Kids, welcomes 3- to 10-year-olds from 10 am to 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm to 7 pm, local time, by reservation only. Babysitting and a children's pool complete the offer. The spa and gym remain for over-16s.

Sabaro's view

Who it suits: food-loving couples, spa lovers, families who want both city and beach, and travellers curious about old Jumeirah.

Strengths: Michelin-starred Tasca; a 2,000 m² spa; the location between the beach, Jumeirah Mosque and Downtown; 5 stars from Forbes Travel Guide and one Michelin Key, the Michelin Guide's hotel distinction; a score of 9.3/10 on Booking.com (673 reviews).

Good to know: spa and gym are off-limits to under-16s; the kids' club must be booked; check-in from 3 pm and check-out by 12 noon, local time; free valet parking. Checked in October 2026 for a March 2027 stay, a Superior Room cost around €1,070 a night for two, breakfast included, free cancellation until 22 February, taxes and fees included according to the source, with a possible per-night tourism fee on top. For the 2026 regional situation, see the regional situation guide.
