The beach closest to the centre
Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach is the beach resort closest to central Dubai, Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa. It stands on Jumeirah Beach Road in Jumeirah 2, about 21 km from Dubai International Airport (DXB), about 25 minutes by car according to the hotel. It is the one to choose if you want to combine the beach with city sightseeing without changing hotels.
Opened in November 2014, the resort covers 5.6 hectares of waterfront gardens. With 237 rooms, 49 of them suites, it stays human in scale, far from the 599 rooms of Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Its closest neighbour in Sabaro's selection is Bvlgari Resort Dubai, on Jumeira Bay island, more intimate and more expensive; Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, further north, has a more urban feel.
Three pools, three uses
| Pool | Size | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Adults' pool | 600 m² | couples and adults wanting quiet |
| Family pool | 850 m² | families and children |
| Indoor lap pool, in the spa | 140 m² | swimmers and spa guests |
The beach is a 270-metre private natural beach, with kayaking, paddleboarding and catamaran sailing. For flags, currents and swimming rules in Dubai, see the guide to Dubai's beaches.
Children
The Kids For All Seasons club welcomes children aged 4 to 12 free of charge, from 10 am to 7 pm, local time. Rooms sleep two adults and two children aged 12 or under, and an extra bed or cot can be added. Two tennis courts and a padel court round out the activities. For more family ideas, see the Family theme.
Which room to choose
Every room is at least 70 m² with a terrace or balcony. The building has just five floors.
On the garden side, on the first two floors, the rooms are the quietest, for a couple or a family with one child. For a couple, our pick is the Premier Sea-View Room, with its large balcony over the sea. The Sea-View Suite adds a separate living room, useful for a family or a long stay; the Royal Suite, on the top floor, is booked by phone.
Rooms come with a king bed or two queen beds, which helps families.
Where to eat
The resort has its own venues: Sea Fu and its bar, Jou Jou Brasserie, Mercury Rooftop, Shai Salon and Hendricks Bar. Opposite the entrance, the Restaurant Village gathers independently run restaurants: Nammos, Nusr-Et, Coya, Mimi Kakushi, Verde and Scalini. That means plenty of choice without a taxi. One official fact sheet lists Scalini as closed while another page still shows it: Sabaro checks before you travel.
The Pearl Spa
The Pearl Spa has ten treatment rooms, including a couples' suite, plus the 140 m² indoor lap pool. See also the Spa and wellness theme.
