Maison Dedine is the most intimate address on the Tunis coast: just five rooms on two floors of a Sidi Bou Said house facing the bay, for guests aged 16 and over. It is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, or SLH, an international network of small independent luxury hotels. Couples come here for the peace and the view, 15 km from the airport.
A five-room family house
Each room is named after a member of the owner's family, and each has its own character. They share a queen-size bed, a walk-in shower in a black-and-white marble bathroom, a separate toilet, complimentary coffee and tea, and Guerlain toiletries. Rooms are serviced twice a day.
The choice is between a terrace and a picture window. On the terrace side, Nana is the quietest, facing the hillside, and Bedd has the largest, open to the sea. Hallou and Bada see the sea through a large picture window; Bibi, tucked away high up, has the largest of all: it is the honeymoon room.
The pool, the roof and the lounge
Life in the house revolves around three places. The Infinity View pool is a 12 m lap pool facing the sea. The roof terrace rises over four stacked levels, and dinner is served there by candlelight. The Espace Méditerranée hosts drinks, lunch and dinner, and a lounge with a fireplace is the place to be on winter evenings.
There is no à la carte restaurant: the American breakfast is included, and meals are taken in the Espace Méditerranée or on the roof. Massages and treatments are booked on request. Two 18-hole golf courses are less than fifteen minutes away, and the Sidi Bou Said marina offers water sports.
Sidi Bou Said on foot
The house is at 3 avenue Kennedy, Sidi Bou Said, facing the Bay of Tunis. The white-and-blue village is best explored on foot. Ennejma Ezzahra palace, built from 1911 to 1922 by Baron Rodolphe d'Erlanger, a painter and musicologist, houses the Centre of Arab and Mediterranean Music, with its instruments, gardens and concerts; it is open every day except Monday, for TND 10, about €3. Dar El Annabi, a late 18th-century house, shows the interior of a traditional Tunisian family home, for about TND 5 including a mint tea.
The ruins of Carthage, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a few minutes away by car or by the TGM suburban train (Tunis-Goulette-Marsa), whose station lies below the village. Tunis-Carthage airport is 15 km away. For sightseeing, see our Carthage and Sidi Bou Said page.
In every season
The house is open all year. In summer the pool and the roof are at the heart of a stay, with the sea at 22.5-27 °C from June to October; in winter, when daytime highs in Tunis are 16-17 °C, the fireside lounge takes over. Check-in is from 2 pm and check-out by noon, local time.
Prices
In October 2026, for two nights in March 2027, the cheapest room was offered at about €280 a night for two adults, breakfast included, with free cancellation, all taxes included. Tourist tax is extra and paid on site: TND 12 per person per night in 4- and 5-star hotels, about €3.60, and TND 8 in 3-star hotels; the amount that applies to the house is confirmed with the offer.
Sabaro's view
Who it suits: couples, honeymoons and anniversaries (see honeymoon), travellers who want an exceptional house rather than a large hotel.
Highlights: only five rooms; the view over the bay; the four-level roof terrace; a rating of 4.9 out of 5 on Tripadvisor (35 reviews).
Good to know: the house does not accept guests under 16 and has no beach; the sea-view rooms are 27 m², without a terrace. For a beach and a full spa, see Four Seasons Hotel Tunis in Gammarth; for another characterful address facing the bay, Villa Didon Carthage. More hotels are gathered on our adults-only and boutique hotels pages.
