A 1950s palace, rebuilt

Royal Mansour Casablanca rises at 27 avenue des Forces Armées Royales, a short walk from the port and the old medina. The hotel opened in 1953, designed by the architect Émile Duhon; it was then the city's first 5-star hotel. According to the house, its guests included Muhammad Ali, Charles Aznavour and Johnny Hallyday.

After eight years of work, it reopened on 15 April 2024 as the second Royal Mansour, after Marrakech. The modernist silhouette was kept and raised to 23 floors; inside are the planted patio and the grand staircase of the original, reinterpreted. A double panoramic lift leads to the top-floor restaurants overlooking the Atlantic. The decor stays in a 1950s spirit: marble, wood marquetry, rich fabrics, light fittings designed for the hotel, and a collection of works of art.

The MICHELIN Guide has awarded it two Keys, its distinction for hotels, meaning "an exceptional stay".

Going up the floors

The 149 units range from 45 to 139 m² for rooms and suites, and from 150 to 220 m² for the private apartments. The higher you go, the wider the view over the city, the Hassan II Mosque and the ocean.

  • The 93 rooms: 45 Deluxe, with bathtub and rain shower, some of them connecting; 39 Premier, more spacious, with desk, bathtub and walk-in shower; 9 Corner rooms at the angles of the building, soundproofed, looking towards the Hassan II Mosque, several of them connecting.
  • The 39 suites: Junior Deluxe, Junior Premier and Executive, for those who want a living room.
  • The 13 Signature suites, between the 16th and 19th floors: 6 one-bedroom suites themed on music or literature, 6 two-bedroom Privilège suites themed on fashion or cinema, with a butler, and the two-bedroom Vintage suite.
  • The 4 exceptional suites, at the top: the Duplex Prestige, with hammam and veranda; the Grand Duplex, on two levels; the Princely Suite, with roof terrace and cinema room; and the Royal Suite, with four bedrooms, a terrace and a spa.

Our advice: for a couple spending two nights in the city, a Corner room offers the best balance between view and budget; for a family, connecting rooms avoid the jump to a suite.

Four restaurants and a bar

  • La Brasserie serves the specialities of Éric Frechon, a three-MICHELIN-star chef, and the classics of Parisian brasseries, at lunch and late dinner. It is also where you collect pastries from the hotel's épicerie, ordered 24 hours ahead.
  • Le Sushi Bar, Japanese, beneath a chandelier of cherry blossoms, is led by chef Keiji Matoba, from lunch into the evening.
  • La Grande Table Marocaine, at the top of the hotel, serves Moroccan cuisine at lunch and dinner, facing the panorama.
  • Le Rooftop mixes Levantine, Italian and Asian cooking, from morning until the middle of the night; from October to December 2026 it hosts the "Fashion tea time", where Moroccan designers present their collections over tea, twice a month.
  • Le Bar, in a 1950s spirit with jazz, serves cocktails and cigars at any hour.

The spa and the barber salon

The spa covers 2,510 m² over two floors and opens daily from 9 am to 9 pm local time. It has two hammams, a swimming pool, a fitness room, treatment rooms and a hair salon. Treatments use the Moroccan brand marocMaroc, inspired by Moroccan beauty rituals, the Swiss brand Bellefontaine and an Ayurvedic aromatherapy range.

On the 20th floor, a 240 m² barber salon designed by Sarah Hamizi, founder of La Barbière de Paris, is devoted to men's grooming, with a view over the city.

Casablanca with the concierges

The hotel's concierges are members of Les Clefs d'Or, the international association of hotel concierges. They offer the city from several angles: the Art Deco centre and the old medina, a street-art trail from the medina to Anfa, street food from the central market to the Habous, a flight over the city in a vintage plane, a surf session with bodyboard champion Adnane Benslimane on Dar Bouazza beach, south of the city, or a tour of Casablanca's designers and craftspeople. They also arrange excursions to Rabat and the Oualidia lagoon.

Sabaro's view

Who it suits: couples and families who want a palace hotel in the city centre; travellers spending two nights or more in Casablanca; lovers of fine dining.

Strengths: the history of the city's first palace hotel; the location, within walking distance of the old medina and the Art Deco centre; four restaurants, two of them at the top; a 2,510 m² spa; a 4.7/5 rating on Tripadvisor from 130 reviews.

Good to know: it is the most expensive of the Casablanca hotels selected by Sabaro; the pool is an indoor swimming pool in the spa; a few travellers report noise in some rooms; the hotel also hosts conferences, weddings and receptions in its ballroom.
