Giza Palace Hotel & Spa opened in May 2025 in Sheikh Zayed City, a new town built in the desert west of Cairo, in Giza Governorate. It belongs to Travco Group, an Egyptian travel and hotel group, and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, an international association of independent luxury hotels. All 560 rooms and suites measure at least 53 m², and every one has a butler on call around the clock. It suits travellers who, after a day of sightseeing, want a full-service grand hotel to come back to: a 1,900 m² spa, a pool, nine restaurants and bars, and a club for children. By road it is about 18 km from the Grand Egyptian Museum and 21 km from the Great Pyramid.

A new palace in West Cairo

Sheikh Zayed City and its neighbour, 6th of October City, are new towns on the western side of Cairo, made up of residential districts, shopping malls and restaurants. Giza Palace stands on the 26th of July Corridor, the expressway that leads into central Cairo. The hotel pairs classical Egyptian architecture with present-day comfort: colonnades, shaded inner courtyards, bathrooms in stone and brass, Egyptian cotton linen.

The hotel covers more than 33,000 m². It also hosts weddings and conferences: its function terrace measures 1,350 m² and its ballroom 1,270 m².

Nine places to eat and drink, led by Sergi Arola

Michelin-starred chef Sergi Arola runs the hotel's kitchens. His own restaurant is Arola Brasserie, on the ground floor, indoors or on the terrace: Mediterranean cooking from breakfast, 6:30 to 11 am, through to dinner, until 11 pm.

The other venues give enough variety for three or four evenings:

  • Beefbar, the international steakhouse brand, with beef from Australia, Japan and the United States, 4 pm to 1 am;
  • ONU, Asian cooking from Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo, with a teppanyaki table (food cooked on a griddle in front of diners) and a sushi bar, from 4:30 pm;
  • Beit El Ezz, Ottoman-inspired mezze and grills, evenings from 5:30 pm;
  • The Palace Bar, a library-style lounge with cocktails, Latin American bites and a cigar lounge, noon to 1 am;
  • Luna, a terrace lounge for shisha (water pipe), 4 pm to midnight;
  • Maison Sucrée for pastries and tea, the Lobby Lounge, open day and night, and the pool bar.

Restaurants ask for smart casual dress in the evening. Our Food and dining page lists the other hotels in our selection where the table matters as much as the room.

Palace Spa and the pool

The spa covers 1,900 m². It has a traditional hammam, a sauna, a steam room, a whirlpool, a couples' treatment room and a VIP room, and is open from 10 am to 8 pm.

The outdoor pool has its own bar, open 9 am to 7 pm. The 270 m² gym, fitted out by Technogym, is open 24 hours with a yoga area, and a 210 m² padel court can be booked from 9 am to 11 pm. Our Spa and wellness page brings together the other spas in our selection.

Choosing a room

Every room has a bathroom with shower, bathtub and double sinks, Acqua di Parma products and twice-daily housekeeping. For a couple out sightseeing all day, the Deluxe, at 53 to 57 m², is plenty. Junior Suites add a balcony or terrace, pleasant on winter evenings; Club, Executive and Giza Suites include the Members Lounge, where light meals are served throughout the day. For families, the hotel puts forward the Giza Suite, 102 to 116 m², which takes up to two rollaway beds; the 107 m² two-bedroom suite sleeps four adults.

With children

The kids' club covers 127 m²; a multilingual team trained in first aid runs crafts, games, film sessions and library time from 10 am to 7 pm. Babysitting can be arranged through the hotel. With the padel court, the pool and rooms of at least 53 m², the hotel works well for a family stay of three or four nights. Our Family page lists the other child-friendly hotels in our selection.

Seeing Cairo from Sheikh Zayed

Nothing is within walking distance; everything is done by car. The Grand Egyptian Museum is about 18 km away and the Great Pyramid about 21 km, 25 minutes' drive when traffic is light, longer at rush hour. The Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square and the city centre are about 29 km away, historic Cairo a little further. Sabaro's advice: one day for the pyramids and the Grand Museum, which are next to each other, setting off early; another for historic Cairo, with a driver for the day. Our guide to visiting the Grand Egyptian Museum covers tickets and time slots, and Getting around Egypt covers taxis, ride-hailing apps and drivers.

To get there, Sphinx Airport, west of Giza, is about 22 km away and receives direct flights from Europe. Cairo International Airport is about 46 km away, on the far side of the city. Check-in is at 3 pm and check-out at noon.

Good to know

The hotel does not take cash: everything is paid by card. Pets are not allowed. Our Egypt visa guide sets out the entry requirements by nationality.

How it compares in Cairo

Among the hotels in our Cairo selection, Giza Palace is the only one in the new towns to the west. Marriott Mena House, a former hunting lodge from 1869, is less than 1 km from the pyramids; Four Seasons Nile Plaza and Fairmont Nile City, on the Nile, are better placed for the centre and historic Cairo. Giza Palace is for travellers who want a new grand hotel, spacious rooms and a spa, and don't mind driving to the sights. Our Cairo and Giza page introduces the city and its districts.
