Six Senses Zighy Bay is a luxury resort of 79 private-pool villas on a 1.6 km sandy beach, at the head of a bay enclosed by the mountains of Musandam, the Omani exclave on the Strait of Hormuz. It lies near Dibba, on the east coast of the peninsula, and is reached by road from the United Arab Emirates. Six Senses is a brand of the British hotel group IHG.
Current situation: Musandam is the part of Oman where governments' advice overlaps most. Foreign ministries do not all give the same advice. Yours:
Your country's advice is shown in the box at the top of the page.
Our guide Oman and the regional situation follows how it changes. Sabaro offers no trip ideas for Musandam while this advice remains in force; this page describes the hotel for information.
A bay enclosed by mountains
Zighy Bay is a secluded cove: the sea on one side, the Musandam mountains on the other. Everything is organised around the beach, a large central pool with service, and the villas, set in several rows back from the sand.
Getting there: the Dibba border
The resort is about 150 km by road from Dubai airport, a little over two hours, and about 94 km from Khasab, Musandam's main town. The usual access is from the UAE through the Dibba border crossing.
Crossing by road from the UAE into Musandam requires:
- a passport valid for at least six months;
- being the holder of the vehicle's insurance: rental cars are no longer admitted into Musandam;
- a fee of AED 30 (UAE dirhams), payable by bank card only.
Transfers should therefore be arranged with the hotel before departure. Entry formalities for Oman are covered in our guide visa for Oman. Border crossings can close at short notice.
The villas
Every villa has a pool; what sets them apart is size and position on the beach. For a couple, the Pool Villa is enough, and its Beachfront version, in the first row, opens straight onto the sand; the Pool Villa Suite separates bedroom and living room, for a longer stay. A family of up to six should take the two-bedroom Duplex on the beach, with its walled garden. Every villa has its own butler, known as a "GEM" (Guest Experience Maker). The villas were refurbished in 2022.
For groups: The Retreat and The Private Reserve
- The Retreat (1,122 m²): three bedrooms, up to 8 guests, on the seafront, with infinity pool, kitchen and living room.
- The Private Reserve (3,000 m²): four bedrooms, up to 10 guests, private beach, 17 m infinity pool, kitchen for a private chef, majlis (Arabian lounge) with cinema, wine cellar and lift.
Dining
The resort has three restaurants and two bars, including Summer House, Spice Market, Sense On The Edge, Zighy Bar, Mezzeria and Shua Shack.
Spa and activities
The award-winning Six Senses Spa has two Arabian hammams. There is also a gym and a shop, the Zighy Souk. Activities on offer include paragliding, kayaking, a dhow cruise (the traditional wooden boat) and snorkelling. For any boat trip, insist on life jackets for everyone.
Minimum stay and festive season
On the dates we checked in March 2027, the hotel required a minimum stay of four nights. At Christmas and New Year, the hotel's page listed compulsory gala dinners. No price is shown here.
