Iberostar Selection Eolia Djerba is the Djerba resort that caters for families and child-free couples alike: an all-inclusive five-star hotel facing Sidi Bakour beach, with five pools, a thalassotherapy centre, a kids' club and, on the roof, an adults-only Star Prestige area. It is the former Hasdrubal Thalassa & Spa Djerba, taken over by the Spanish group Iberostar for its Selection range and fully renovated.
Two audiences, two spaces
Families have Star Camp, the chain's kids' club, with age-based programmes up to 17, which matters if you travel with teenagers. A playground and the outdoor pools complete the picture. The Double, already large at 50 m², has a sofa bed as well as a king bed or twins, and takes a cot: it fits a couple with one child. For more room, the Beachfront Junior Suite with Terrace (55 m²), on the ground floor, opens straight onto the Mediterranean, with two rooms including a lounge with a sofa bed: the beach starts at the edge of the terrace.
Couples without children book the Star Prestige Sea-View Double, sea-facing and adults-only. It comes with access to the Star Prestige rooftop, with an infinity pool, a hot tub and an open bar, plus personalised service and late check-out subject to availability. The room has a capsule coffee machine, bathrobes and slippers. See also adults-only.
The other categories are the Pool View Double, overlooking the pool with a side view of the sea, a minibar restocked daily and a choice of pillows, and the Suite Sea View (85 m²), with separate bedroom and living room and a sea-view balcony, for longer stays.
Thalasso and five pools
The thalassotherapy centre (treatments using seawater, seaweed and marine mud) comes with a spa with an indoor saltwater pool, a traditional hammam and massages. The hotel has five pools, three outdoors and two indoors, so there is room to swim in winter, when the sea drops to about 15 °C. The gym is open from 6 am to 6.30 pm, local time, and yoga sessions are offered.
Our guide to golf and thalasso in Tunisia compares the Eolia with the island's other centres, including the 11,000 m² centre at the Hasdrubal Prestige.
All-inclusive
The hotel runs on an all-inclusive basis, with three restaurants and four bars:
- Elissa, the buffet;
- Azurah, Mediterranean cooking with themed evenings;
- Sidi Bakour, Tunisian à la carte;
- Mawa (lobby bar), Mavi (snack bar), Alfayrouz (a café maure, or Tunisian-style café) and Gaïa (pool bar).
The hotel's website lists three restaurants but includes only two in the all-inclusive package: the à la carte restaurant may cost extra. Sabaro clarifies this when you book.
Sidi Bakour beach
The hotel opens straight onto the sandy beach, furnished with Balinese beds (large canopied beach beds). It is next to the coast's water sports schools. The sea passes 27 °C in July and nears 29 °C in August: swimming is pleasant from June to October. See our beach page.
Location and access
The hotel is in the Midoun tourist zone, on the island's north-east coast:
- Houmt Souk, the main town, with its fondouks (caravanserais) and fort: 20 minutes by car;
- Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (DJE): Midoun is 27 km from the airport, about 35 minutes.
Djerba has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2023. Djerbahood, the street art museum in Erriadh, the Ghriba synagogue and the potters' village of Guellala are covered on our Djerba page.
Season
The hotel announces no closure; an Iberostar winter offer covered stays from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027 at a selection of its hotels, and rooms were on sale for March 2027. Djerba has direct flights all year from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes and Brussels; the island is 2h50 from Paris and 2h20 from Lyon by direct flighta few hours' flight from Europe's main cities, direct or with one stop. Most Europeans come between April and October; the mild winter (17 to 18 °C by day in December and January) suits a thalasso break. Ramadan 2027 is expected from 8 February to 9 March.
Price and tourist tax
In October 2026, for two nights from 9 March 2027, the cheapest room was offered on the official website at about €150 a night for two adults, breakfast and taxes included, on a non-refundable rate.
The tourist tax is paid on top at the hotel: 12 Tunisian dinars (TND) per person per night in four- and five-star hotels, about €3.60 at the Central Bank of Tunisia rate of 19 October 2026, for up to ten nights. See our money in Tunisia guide.
