In Konya, no address is closer to Rumi. hich hotel konya occupies restored Turkish houses about two centuries old, almost in the garden of the Mevlana Museum: only a garden wall separates them from the mausoleum. The hotel was designed for people who come to Konya for Mevlana, whether to visit or to reflect.
Thirteen rooms in stone, wood and metal
The restoration combined stone, wood and metal, with furniture and accessories designed for the hotel. The rugs, a patchwork of Anatolian motifs, were woven by Konya's master carpet makers, and paintings were made specially for the hotel. The bathrooms bear Matteo Thun's signature.
To see the Mevlana tomb from your room, ask for the King Room with Panoramic View. The suites overlook the Asmalı Mescit mosque, and the Exclusive Suite adds a seating area, useful for a longer stay.
All have a TV, a kettle with complimentary tea and coffee, a desk, a phone dock, free wifi, a shower, a bathrobe and toiletries.
hich CAFE and the garden
hich CAFE is both café and library. It serves a selection of Seljuk and international dishes. In summer its large garden looks onto the Mevlana Museum's rose garden. Breakfast is served at the table, with a buffet of breads, cereals, fruit, fresh orange juice and yoghurt; it is taken in the garden when the weather allows.
Location
The hotel is in Karatay, at Aziziye Mahallesi, Celal Sokak No. 6. The Mevlana Museum is on the other side of the wall; the historic centre's monuments, including the Karatay Madrasa, are within walking distance, and many restaurants and shops surround the hotel. A bus stop is 100 m away; Konya Airport (KYA) is 20 km. For the city, see our Konya page.
