Alila Hinu Bay is the most secluded hotel in our Dhofar selection: it sits at the far end of Mirbat, a coastal town in the east of the province, between the Jebel Samhan mountains and the Arabian Sea. Opened in June 2021, it has 112 keys, including 16 villas with private pools. Alila is a luxury brand of the American hotel group Hyatt.

Current situation: the hotel is reached through Salalah airport, in a region that some European foreign ministries advise against. Mirbat lies on the coast, and some ministries ask for appropriate security arrangements beyond that coastal strip. They do not all give the same advice. Yours:

Your country's advice is shown in the box at the top of the page.

Our guide Oman and the regional situation follows how it changes. This page provides information on the hotel while that advice stands.

Why Mirbat

Almost all of the province's hotels are in Salalah. Mirbat is about 90 km east of the airport, an hour to an hour and a quarter by road. Its appeal is that seclusion: the bay in front, the mountain behind, the town at the end of the road.

The distance has two consequences: trips to Salalah and western Dhofar mean long drives, and the hotel works better for a quiet stay than as a base for the whole region.

Terrace rooms or villas

Every category has a terrace or a pool, and breakfast is included in the rates we found. The choice is between the terrace rooms, some of them facing the lagoon, and the villas with a private pool over the Arabian Sea, almost three times larger. The terrace rooms suit a couple or, with connecting rooms on request, a small family.

The villas are the honeymoon choice (see honeymoon). Families with young children also find the space they need there.

Two pools, one beach

The resort has an infinity pool facing the bay, open to all, and a second pool, Oasis, for adults only, with its own bar. The private beach faces the Arabian Sea. There is a children's play area; no kids' club is advertised.

Spa Alila uses natural products and offers yoga and meditation (see spa and wellness).

Dining

Two restaurants, The Orchard and SeaSalt, a lounge, the Lobby Lounge, and the adults' pool bar, the Oasis Pool Bar.

What is nearby

Eastern Dhofar has several sites, described on our page Taqah, Mirbat and Wadi Darbat:

  • Mirbat Castle, on the coast, overlooks the old port and the souk; it opens daily from 8 am to 7 pm local time.
  • Sumhuram, at Khor Rori, an ancient frankincense port (4th century BC to 5th century AD) listed by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
  • Wadi Darbat, a mountain valley above Khor Rori whose lakes fill during the khareef, the June-to-September monsoon.

Offshore, the hotel offers coral-reef diving and fishing (see diving). Insist on life jackets for everyone on board.

Prices and reviews

On 20 October 2026, for two nights in March 2027, the cheapest room was offered at about €210 a night for two adults, breakfast included, non-refundable, taxes and fees included, possible local taxes extra. Guests rate it 8.8 out of 10 on Booking.com (652 reviews).

Frequently asked questions

How far is Alila Hinu Bay from Salalah?

About 90 km from Salalah International Airport, an hour to an hour and a quarter east by the coast road through Taqah and Mirbat.

Do the villas have private pools?

Yes. All 16 villas, of 166 and 175 m², have their own pool, an outdoor bathtub and beach access.

Is there an adults-only pool?

Yes, the Oasis pool and its bar. The infinity pool facing the bay is open to all guests.

Is the hotel suitable for families?

It welcomes children, with a play area and connecting rooms, but advertises no kids' club. For a family holiday with organised activities, the Salalah hotels are better equipped, such as Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara.

What do foreign ministries say about this region?

They do not all say the same: some advise against the Salalah region, others only against the areas around ports and strategic sites, others do not name it, and some ask for appropriate security arrangements beyond Dhofar's coastal strip. Your country's advice is shown at the top of the page. See our guide Oman and the regional situation.
