# Adults-only hotels

The adults-only hotels in Sabaro's selection admit guests from 16 or 18 depending on the hotel. In Egypt they are in El Gouna, Hurghada, Makadi, Marsa Alam, Sharm el-Sheikh and Aswan; in Morocco, in Agadir, Marrakesh and Essaouira; in Dubai, it is The Residence, the adults' wing of the One&Only Royal Mirage; in Oman, Al Husn in Muscat. Sabaro states each hotel's minimum age when it is published. In Tunisia, they are La Badira in Hammamet and Maison Dedine in Sidi Bou Said, both from age 16. In Turkey, Birdcage 33 and Casa Nonna, in Bodrum, are reserved for guests aged 16 and over; the country's other adult-oriented hotels, in Cappadocia and on the Lycian coast, take guests from age 12.

## Sixteen or eighteen

"Adults only" covers two thresholds. Some hotels admit teenagers from 16, others only over-18s: the difference matters for a family with an older teenager, or for friends travelling with a younger brother. When the hotel does not publish its threshold, Sabaro has it confirmed at booking.

## Three ways to be among adults

**The buzz of a large all-inclusive.** The Rixos Sharm El Sheikh Adults Only, on Nabq Bay, runs the same formula as the neighbouring Rixos Premium Seagate, large pools, ten restaurants, shows every evening, but admits only guests aged 18 and over; a jetty leads to the reef. In Agadir, the Riu Tikida Beach shares the seafront with the Riu Palace Tikida Agadir, with 254 rooms, a thalassotherapy circuit and entertainment aimed at adults. In Marrakesh, the Riu Tikida Garden has four pools in the gardens of the Palmeraie, with swim-up rooms; entertainment and music set the pace day and evening. In Hurghada, the all-suite Steigenberger Pure Lifestyle is on the El Mamsha promenade: the address for couples who want to go out.

**The calm of a small house.** Three addresses have fewer than 25 rooms. Benben by Dhara, built of granite, sits on the Nubian island of Heissa, facing the temple of Philae in Aswan: 24 rooms, most with a terrace jacuzzi, yoga on the rock above the river, and a boat crossing every time you go out. La Maison Bleue in El Gouna has 13 suites on a lagoon, with chef Vincent Guillou's table. Riad EspritBleu, in the Essaouira medina, has seven rooms on four floors, with no shared pool or spa, and a roof terrace over the ocean. **An adults' wing in a large resort, in Dubai.** [The Residence](/en/hotels/residence-royal-mirage/) is the One&Only Royal Mirage's wing of some fifty rooms and suites, in Al Sufouh, between the [Marina](/en/dubai/dubai-marina/) and Palm Jumeirah. The official website presents it as adults-only; some tour operators say teenagers from 12 are accepted, so Sabaro has the rule confirmed before booking. The wing has its own restaurant, The Dining Room, a library lounge and its own pool, and shares with the resort 26 hectares of gardens, a kilometre of private beach and the One&Only Spa, with its oriental hammam. Rooms range from 58 to 118 m², all looking onto the Gulf and the gardens. Two things to know: the wing closed for maintenance from April to mid-October 2026, and The Palace, the neighbouring wing, has been closed for renovation since 24 April 2026, with no official reopening date. Sabaro has the opening of the pool and restaurant confirmed in writing for the dates of the stay. The season runs from October to April; summer is very hot.

**A fortress above a cove, in Muscat.** [Al Husn](/en/hotels/al-husn-muscat/), "the fortress" in Arabic, is the adults-only hotel of the Barr Al Jissah complex, about forty minutes from [Muscat](/en/oman/muscat/) airport: 180 rooms and suites set on the cliff, for guests aged 16 and over, with the person checking in required to be 18. Below lies a private cove; above, an infinity pool facing the Gulf of Oman. Canoes, pedal boats and snorkelling gear are provided free of charge, and the complex has a dive centre. Rooms are at least 56 m², all with a balcony. Guests can also use the facilities of the complex's two other hotels, including the [DoubleTree Al Waha](/en/hotels/doubletree-muscat-al-waha/), the family choice. Expect from about €425 a night with breakfast, local taxes possibly extra. The former Shangri-La Al Husn has been run by Hilton since 1 January 2026 and is due to become a Waldorf Astoria after works announced for 2027, with no dates published: Sabaro checks before every booking that the hotel is open and free of building work. **Sport without children around.** Casa Cook El Gouna, for guests aged 16 and over, has its Duotone kitesurfing centre and a private lagoon beach. The Steigenberger Makadi stands in the middle of the 18-hole Madinat Makadi golf course, with a golf academy and 58 m² rooms; the beach is a few minutes away by shuttle. The Steigenberger Coraya Beach, at Port Ghalib, 4 km from Marsa Alam airport, has an 800 m private beach with direct reef access and a dive centre. ## Adult spaces in family hotels

A family hotel can also suit a couple looking for calm, if it has areas set aside. At Club Med Marrakech La Palmeraie, the zen pool is for over-18s. The Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout has two adults-only pools out of eight. At Lazib Inn in Fayoum, one of the three pools is for adults, and the infinity pool at the Oberoi in Sahl Hasheesh has an adults' area. Spas in particular often set a minimum age: 16 at the Mandarin Oriental Marrakech and the Robinson Club Soma Bay, 18 at the Fairmont Royal Palm and at the Fairmont Nile City in Cairo. In Dubai, many family resorts have an adults' pool: a 600 m² pool at the [Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach](/en/hotels/four-seasons-jumeirah-beach/), Safina at [One&Only The Palm](/en/hotels/one-and-only-the-palm/), one lagoon out of three at [Anantara The Palm](/en/hotels/anantara-the-palm/), the Kinugawa pool at the [Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab](/en/hotels/jumeirah-marsa-al-arab/), and an adults' pool at [Bab Al Shams](/en/hotels/bab-al-shams/), in the desert. Some pools set their own age: Cloud 22, on the roof of [Atlantis The Royal](/en/hotels/atlantis-the-royal/), and the La Baie pool at the [Ritz-Carlton](/en/hotels/ritz-carlton-dubai-jbr/), from 21; the 77th-floor pool at [Address Beach Resort](/en/hotels/address-beach-resort/), from 16 after 11.30 am. The spas at the [Mandarin Oriental Jumeira](/en/hotels/mandarin-oriental-jumeira/) and Bab Al Shams are for ages 16 and over.

In Muscat, [Jumeirah Muscat Bay](/en/hotels/jumeirah-muscat-bay/) has three pools, one of them for adults; the spa at the [Mandarin Oriental](/en/hotels/mandarin-oriental-muscat/) is open from age 16, and The Stage Bar & Lounge at the [St. Regis Al Mouj](/en/hotels/st-regis-al-mouj-muscat/) from 21.

**Good to know.** At the Robinson Club Soma Bay, alcohol is served from age 18; in Dubai, from 21, in licensed hotels, restaurants and bars, according to the guide [Alcohol and rules of conduct in Dubai](/en/guides/alcool-regles-dubai/). ## Tunisia: a peninsula in Hammamet, a house in Sidi Bou Said

**A whole five-star hotel for adults.** [La Badira](/en/hotels/la-badira/), on a small peninsula in Hammamet Nord, keeps its 130 suites for guests over 16. Every suite is at least 45 m²; the hotel has a Clarins spa, two pools, a beach and three restaurants, about 40 km from Enfidha airport. **Five rooms above the Bay of Tunis.** [Maison Dedine](/en/hotels/maison-dedine/), in [Sidi Bou Said](/en/tunisia/carthage-sidi-bou-said/), welcomes guests aged 16 and over in five rooms, with a 12-metre infinity pool and a roof terrace, 15 km from Tunis-Carthage airport.

At Port El Kantaoui, near [Sousse](/en/tunisia/sousse/), the [Iberostar Selection Diar el Andalous](/en/hotels/iberostar-selection-diar-el-andalous/) also has a Star Prestige area, for guests over 16.

## Turkey: Bodrum for over-16s, hotels from age 12 elsewhere

**Two hotels for over-16s, in Bodrum.** [Birdcage 33](/en/hotels/birdcage-33/), opened in 2022 among the olive trees above Yalıkavak, has 11 rooms in a few low houses around a pool and the Lika restaurant; it holds a Michelin Key. [Casa Nonna Bodrum](/en/hotels/casa-nonna-bodrum/) has 34 rooms and suites above its private beach on İçmeler Bay, east of the town. **From age 12.** In [Cappadocia](/en/turkey/cappadocia/), the [Aza Cave Hotel](/en/hotels/aza-cave-hotel/), 37 cave rooms in Göreme, and the [Museum Hotel](/en/hotels/museum-hotel-cappadocia/), 34 rooms at the top of Uçhisar, take guests aged 12 and over.
