# W Muscat

W Muscat is a 279-room, 5-star beach hotel in Shatti Al Qurum, next to the Royal Opera House Muscat and about 30 minutes from the airport. A rooftop infinity pool, lively bars and restaurants and rooms with a playful take on Omani design make it the address for couples and friends who want the beach by day and an evening out, from about €400 a night.

W Muscat is the city's party hotel: a 279-room, 5-star property on Shatti Al Qurum beach with a rooftop infinity pool, bars that stay open late and the Royal Opera House Muscat across a footbridge. It belongs to W Hotels, Marriott's lifestyle brand built around design, music and nightlife.

## Who it suits

Couples and groups of friends who want a city beach, good restaurants and a sunset drink rather than a secluded resort. The neighbours on the same beach are quieter: [Grand Hyatt Muscat](/en/hotels/grand-hyatt-muscat/), more classic and cheaper, and [Mandarin Oriental](/en/hotels/mandarin-oriental-muscat/), more luxurious and family-oriented. For peace among gardens, [The Chedi](/en/hotels/the-chedi-muscat/) is twenty minutes away.

## The rooftop

W Muscat's signature is its **sixth-floor infinity pool**, part of **Siddharta Lounge by Buddha-Bar**: a rooftop restaurant, lounge and pool bar looking along the Shatti Al Qurum coast. The hotel says the rooftop pool welcomes swimmers Saturday to Thursday from 12 noon to 3.30pm (local time); in the evening the lounge takes over, from sunset until late. There is a second, larger outdoor pool where sun loungers and cabanas (Water Cabana, White Cabana) should be booked ahead, as they go fast.

## Eating and going out

- **Siddharta Lounge by Buddha-Bar**: Asian and Mediterranean dishes, sushi and cocktails on the roof.
- **CHAR**: steakhouse and grills, indoors or out, with sea views.
- **Ba Ban**: Chinese cooking inspired by Shanghai's Bund.
- **The Terrace**: open-fire Mediterranean cooking with Middle Eastern flavours, by chef Cihan Cetinkaya.
- **Harvest**: seasonal, local and organic produce at communal tables; breakfast is served here.
- **Living Room** (the lobby bar) and **WET Deck** (the pool bar, lined with mirrors in homage to the Bimmah Sinkhole).

In Oman, alcohol is served only in licensed venues such as hotel bars, to guests aged 21 and over, and is banned in public places, beaches included.

## Rooms with W style

The décor gives Omani codes the W treatment: a majlis corner (the traditional Arabian sitting room), Zanzibar-style prints, a sloping ceiling like a desert tent, and a minibar built from stacked travel trunks.

The Fabulous Room, with its private balcony over the Gulf of Oman, is the room for most stays; the Wonderful Room and the Cozy Room keep the same spirit, with a corner majlis. A couple who wants more space should take the Fantastic Suite. The two penthouses, for four guests, are made for entertaining friends.

## Walking to the Opera

The Royal Opera House Muscat, opened in 2011 as the first opera house in the Gulf, is the hotel's immediate neighbour, a short stroll across a footbridge. The hotel sells a package combining a night's stay with a seat at a performance. Guided tours of the Opera House cost OMR 3.15 (Omani rials). The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Muttrah are each about fifteen minutes by road. See our [Muscat](/en/oman/muscat/) page.

## Sport, spa and pets

**AWAY Spa** offers massages, including a signature Muscat massage, and a Vichy shower (a treatment under a bar of water jets). The Technogym fitness centre overlooks the sea, and the tennis court is floodlit for night games. W Muscat accepts pets in dedicated rooms.

## Price

In October 2026, for a two-night stay in March 2027, the cheapest room cost about €400 a night for two adults, room only, at the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programme member rate (free to join), taxes and fees included, with any local taxes extra.

## Sabaro's view

**Best for**: couples and friends who want a beach, restaurants and nightlife in Muscat (see [food and dining](/en/themes/food-and-dining/)).

**Strengths**: the rooftop pool; the range of restaurants and bars; the Opera House on foot; a score of 9.1 out of 10 on Booking.com (1,779 reviews).

**Worth knowing**: the music-led atmosphere is not for everyone; there is no advertised kids' club; the rooftop pool has limited swimming hours and turns into a busy lounge at night.
