## A leisure city more than a hotel

Jungle Aqua Park belongs to the Egyptian group Pickalbatros. It is part of Neverland, a leisure city opened at the end of 2022 on a 100,000 m² desert site beside the Safaga road, south of Hurghada. Three of the group's hotels share the site: Jungle Aqua Park, Water Valley and Alf Leila Wa Leila, about 1,550 rooms in all.

The heart of the site is the water park, which Pickalbatros describes as the largest in Egypt: 81 slides and 45 pools. The slides and attractions were designed and installed by Polin, the Turkish water park maker. Hotel guests reach it straight from their rooms; it is the reason to come here.

The resort is made up of low-rise bungalows, some opening directly onto a pool. After sunset, evening shows take over from the slides.

## The park, by children's age

**Older children and parents.** The thrill slides have names that set the tone: King Cobra, a racing slide where riders go side by side, Freefall, Looping Rocket, Dragero, Aqua Tube. The Surf Pool lets you try surfing; the Crazy River is a pool with a strong current. A pirate ship carries five slides on its own.

**Little ones.** The Kids Aqua Park is reserved for them, from age 4: slides at their scale and water games.

**Out of the water.** Midway Street lines up eleven rides. There are also bumper cars, bumper boats, a skate area, bikes, a 360° virtual reality room, an art school for children, and a small museum of replicas of Luxor artefacts. For sport: tennis, mini golf, a multi-sport court with a volleyball net, a football pitch and giant chess. A spa (massage, sauna, steam bath, whirlpool) and a gym complete the picture.

Our advice: with children aged 4 to 12, a week fills itself without leaving the hotel. With teenagers, the thrill park is what justifies the stay. With a child under 4, the park has less to offer.

## All-inclusive, how it works

Stays are sold all-inclusive. The resort has thirteen restaurants, buffets and à la carte: Soprano, an Italian buffet; Zum Kaiser, fusion cooking served at breakfast, lunch and dinner; L'Asiatique; Taj, Indian; Tagine; La Casa, Italian; The Starfish, seafood à la carte; Rocking Burger; a snack restaurant and a bakery that also serves ice cream. À la carte restaurants must be booked ahead: do it on arrival, as slots go fast in high season.

About ten bars are spread between the lobby, terraces, park and pools.

## The beach

The resort has no beach on site. Guests take a shuttle to the beach of a sister hotel, Pickalbatros Dana Beach, about 900 m away. Days are spent in the park, and the sea becomes an outing.

Those who want both a water park and a beach on the doorstep should look at the Steigenberger Aqua Magic, smaller and on the seafront.

## Sabaro's view

**Good to know**: the site is very large and very lively; the beach means a shuttle; the hotel does not publish room sizes.
