Museum Hotel opened in 2003 at the top of Uçhisar with an idea it presents as a world first: turning a hotel into a living museum. Hundreds of Hittite, Roman, Seljuk and Ottoman artefacts, registered with the Nevşehir Museum, are displayed in the rooms, corridors, rock-cut tunnels and restaurant. It is Cappadocia's only Relais & Châteaux, and it has been awarded two MICHELIN Keys.

## Thirty-four rooms, all different

The rooms are set in caves and traditional stone houses, each decorated with antiques. The hotel classes them in six categories, from the Deluxe Rooms, the simplest, to the Imperial Pool Suites with their private pools.

The honeymoon suites have private pools and, according to the hotel, wine fountains. The hotel does not publish room sizes: on request, Sabaro tells you which room matches what you are looking for, whether a view, a fireplace or a pool.

## Lil'a and the Loggia

**Lil'a**, the hotel's à la carte restaurant, listed by the MICHELIN Guide, serves Turkish and Ottoman cuisine. It is also open to non-residents. For a dinner apart, the **Loggia** is a private space with the hotel's finest view over Cappadocia; the hotel also arranges dinners in Love Valley. The **Cavo** cellar hosts tastings of local wines.

## Gardens, pool and wellness

The hotel keeps ecological gardens and vineyards. Its pool, which it calls historic, overlooks the landscape, and there is a wellness area. People come for the calm: the hotel does not take children under 12.

## Location

Museum Hotel stands at the highest point of Uçhisar, Tekelli Mahallesi No. 1, below the village's rock castle. The views reach across the Göreme valleys and, at dawn, the balloons. Nevşehir Airport (NAV) is about 40 km away; Göreme is a few minutes' drive. For the region, see our [Cappadocia](/en/turkey/cappadocia/) page.
