Courtyard Hotel Kalkan, which also goes by Courtyard & White House Kalkan, is the place to sleep in Kalkan old town, in a house that has kept its history, rather than in a seafront hotel. The property brings together two houses on one plot: the **Courtyard**, six restored rooms where every old feature has been kept, and the simpler **White House**, with balcony rooms and sea views. They share a garden and a terrace for breakfast and evening drinks.

## Six rooms, six stories

No two Courtyard rooms are alike, and that is the point. Room 2, the largest, with its original fireplaces, will suit a couple who want space; rooms 3 and 4, bright, have a balcony over the garden and a glimpse of the sea. Room 1 has a cave bathroom reached by stairs: best avoided if steps are a problem. For a family, the family room in the White House next door has a double bed, a single bed and a sea-view balcony.

All rooms have free Wi-Fi and breakfast included; most are heated. The website does not give room sizes.

## Life in the old town

The hotel is in the heart of the old town, on Süleyman Yılmaz Street, a few minutes' walk from the harbour, its restaurants and the boats that leave for the coves. Kalkan is a village built like an amphitheatre above its bay, with no large resort hotels. Check-in is from 1 pm and check-out by 11 am, local time.

## Location and access

Dalaman airport is 128 km away, about 2 h 05 by road. Kaş is 27 km away, 25 minutes. Patara and its long beach, Kekova and its sunken city, Myra and the Church of St Nicholas at Demre are covered on our [Kalkan, Kaş and Kekova](/en/turkey/kalkan-kas/) page. For a waterside hotel in Kalkan with a pool and beach club, see [Hotel Villa Mahal](/en/hotels/hotel-villa-mahal/).

## Season

The hotel's website takes bookings all year round. In Kalkan, the Kaş weather station records highs of 25 °C in May, 29.5 °C in June and 33 °C in August; the sea is above 24 °C from June to October. Heated rooms and fireplaces make the hotel pleasant in spring and autumn too, for walking and sightseeing.

## Price

Price on request. The hotel's website shows a guide nightly rate that varies with dates and room type; Sabaro will pass on the hotel's offer in reply to your request.

## Sabaro's view

**Who it suits**: couples and curious travellers who prefer the charm of an old house and village life to a pool.

**Highlights**: rooms that are all different and full of history; the shared garden; the old town and harbour on foot.

**Good to know**: no pool or beach at the hotel. Room 1 takes some effort: its bathroom is at the bottom of a staircase. More characterful houses feature on our [boutique hotels](/en/themes/boutique-hotels/) page.
