JA Hatta Fort Hotel is the place to stay to discover Dubai's mountains: it sits in Hatta, the emirate's enclave in the Hajar Mountains near the border with Oman, and bills itself as Dubai's only mountain resort. Stone-and-pale-wood rooms, cabins with patios, a three-bedroom villa and two pools facing the peaks make it a simple base for hiking, biking or kayaking on Hatta Dam, at a far gentler price than the beach resorts.

## Hatta, Dubai's mountains

Hatta is an enclave of the Emirate of Dubai, to the east, in the heart of the Hajar Mountains. People come for the mountain air and the outdoors: **Hatta Dam**, where you can kayak, the **heritage village**, **Hatta Wadi Hub**, an outdoor activity centre that offers quad bikes for children among other things, **Hatta Dome Park** and the **Hatta Honey Bee Discovery Centre**, devoted to honey and open from 9 am to 5 pm local time. It is all covered on our [Hatta and the Hajar Mountains](/en/dubai/hatta/) page.

## Getting there

- **By car**: about 130 km and 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours from Dubai. A private transfer is the easiest option.
- **By bus**: the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai's transport authority) H02 express bus leaves Dubai Mall bus station every two hours from 7 am to 7 pm local time, for AED 25 (UAE dirhams).

See also our [getting around Dubai](/en/guides/se-deplacer-dubai/) guide.

## Room, cabin or villa

Rooms have high ceilings, exposed stone and pale wood, a bathtub and a walk-in shower. The **Terra Cabins** have skylights and a multimedia projector; in the Deluxe Terra Cabins, the large picture window serves as the screen. The **villa** sits in a secluded part of the resort.

**Our tip**: for a couple, the Deluxe Mountain View Room; for a family with young children, a Deluxe Terra Cabin with its bunk beds and patio.

## Outdoors: hiking, biking, kayaking

The hotel is a gateway to the Hajar Mountains, with hiking and mountain-bike trails and kayaking on Hatta Dam. On site, padel courts and an Animal Discovery Zone keep children busy. See also our [mountains](/en/themes/mountains/) page.

A safety note: flash floods can occur in wadis (dry riverbeds), especially in winter. Stay out of wadis when it rains. For general advice, see our [regional situation guide](/en/guides/situation-regionale-dubai/).

## Pools, spa and dining

The resort has two temperature-controlled pools facing the mountains, a spa, **Terra Wellness**, and a gym.

- **Café Gazebo**: buffet breakfast and alfresco lunch above the pools;
- **Jeema**: contemporary Indian cuisine, facing the Hajar Mountains;
- **Peaks Café**: coffee and light bites;
- **Roumoul Cocktail Bar**: cocktails and live music in the evening;
- **Pool Bar**: drinks and snacks by the water all day.

## With children, and with your dog

Every category takes children up to 11 with their parents; the Family Room and the villa suit larger families. The hotel is dog friendly, for a supplement, including in the Terra Cabins. See our [family](/en/themes/family/) page.

## When to go

The best season is winter, which the hotel calls its "Mountain Season", with cooler days. From May to October, many of Hatta's outdoor activities close and the heat makes hiking hard going. For summer heat, see [Dubai in summer](/en/guides/chaleur-ete-dubai/).

## Prices

In October 2026, for a stay in March 2027, the cheapest room was offered at around €355 a night for two adults, with breakfast and free cancellation, including taxes and fees, with a possible per-night tourism fee on top.

## Sabaro's view

**Who it's for**: families, hikers and cyclists, and travellers who want to see another side of the emirate after the beach and the city.

**Strengths**: the Hajar Mountains setting; the Terra Cabins; Hatta Dam and the local activities close by; dogs welcome; the price.

**Good to know**: 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours' drive from Dubai; a simpler resort than the big hotels on the coast; an 8.7 out of 10 rating on Booking.com (1,999 reviews).
