Hotel Ibrahim Pasha is the small address in our old-city selection: 24 rooms in two turn-of-the-20th-century Ottoman houses, joined into a single four-storey hotel. It takes its name from the neighbouring palace of Ibrahim Pasha, grand vizier and childhood friend of Suleiman the Magnificent, now the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts. The Michelin Guide lists it in its selection of Istanbul hotels.

## A house more than a hotel

The ground floor feels like a living room: two fireplaces, leather sofas and a library of Istanbul books, newspapers and magazines. The reception, open around the clock, works as an advice desk: the team has its own maps and lists of addresses, and guests come to plan their days there. A lift serves all four floors.

On the roof, the terrace looks out over the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara, with a bar reserved for hotel guests. It is the place for a sunset drink.

## Two room categories

The hotel has two room types. Standard rooms are small: they suit travellers who spend their days out. For a longer stay, a deluxe room adds a sitting area, and some a balcony. In both categories you can choose between a queen bed and two single beds.

All have a bathroom with rain shower, a smart TV, a laptop-size safe, bathrobes and slippers, and complimentary tea, coffee, water and fruit. The rooms are not suitable for wheelchair users. The whole hotel is non-smoking except the rooftop terrace and the balconies of some deluxe rooms.

## Breakfast and services

Breakfast, Turkish and continental, is served in the lobby from 7:30 to 11 am local time, and is included in the room rate. The hotel arranges transfers from both Istanbul airports, at €70 one way for up to four people, as well as private guided tours and ticket bookings.

## Location

The hotel stands on Terzihane Sokak, a quiet street in the Binbirdirek quarter by the Hippodrome, in the [historic peninsula](/en/turkey/istanbul-historic-peninsula/). The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts is next door; the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are a few minutes' walk away. Istanbul Airport (IST) is about an hour's drive away without traffic.
