Iberostar Selection Diar el Andalous is a five-star beach resort in Port El Kantaoui, the resort built around a marina just north of Sousse. Its distinctive feature is that it works as two hotels in one: a family side, with a kids' club and pools set in gardens, and a Star Prestige area reserved for adults aged 16 and over. It belongs to the Selection range of the Spanish group Iberostar, and stays can earn points on IHG One Rewards, the loyalty scheme of the British hotel group IHG.

## Two ways to stay

**With children**, life centres on the gardens. Star Camp, the chain's kids' club, takes 4 to 7-year-olds and 8 to 12-year-olds in separate groups, with a playground; there is also a children's pool. The Family Room (41 m²) faces the garden, with a balcony, a bathtub, an extra bed and a cot: enough for a couple with one or two young children.

**As a couple**, the Star Prestige area changes the stay. It has its own reception, a panoramic lounge and two sun terraces, each with two hot tubs, away from the families. Access comes with one of the two Star Prestige junior suites:

- the Garden-View Star Prestige Junior Suite (47 m²), on the upper floors, with a sitting area, a balcony over the garden, a 2 m by 2 m bed and a pillow menu;
- the Sea View Star Prestige Junior Suite (68 m²), on the top floor, with an open sea view, two terraces and the Star Prestige lounge and terrace close by, where the open bar and hot tub are included.

The latter is the room to book for a honeymoon (see [honeymoon](/en/themes/honeymoon/)) or an anniversary.

Standard doubles measure 32 m², with a balcony and a bathtub, facing the garden or with a side view of the sea. The side view gives a glimpse of the Mediterranean without facing it head-on.

## Beach and golf

The hotel faces the sandy beach of Port El Kantaoui directly. The outdoor pools sit in the gardens; a heated indoor pool is part of the spa. The sea is warm from June to October, around 26 to 27 °C in July and August.

The Port El Kantaoui golf course is nearby, with green fees payable. Our guide to [golf and thalasso in Tunisia](/en/guides/golf-thalasso-tunisie/) covers the country's courses; see also our [golf](/en/themes/golf/) page.

## Spa

The spa offers massages, beauty and wellness treatments, a Turkish bath, a sauna and a heated indoor pool. It does not advertise thalassotherapy (seawater treatments): for a proper cure, the [Mövenpick Sousse](/en/hotels/movenpick-sousse/), a few kilometres away, has a thalasso centre.

## Restaurants and bars

The hotel has two restaurants and six bars:

- **Al Hambra**, the main buffet restaurant;
- an à la carte Italian and Tunisian restaurant, booking required;
- **La Chicha Café**;
- **Le Rimel**, the pool snack bar;
- **Le Boutre**, the hotel bar;
- the **Beach Bar**, on the sand.

An all-inclusive package is available as an option.

## Location

- Sousse: under 10 km; the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is 11 km away, about 20 minutes;
- Monastir: 30 km;
- Monastir airport (MIR): about 30 minutes from Port El Kantaoui;
- Enfidha-Hammamet airport (NBE): about 35 minutes.

Port El Kantaoui's marina, cafés and restaurants are a few minutes away. For the medina, the ribat and the archaeological museum, see our [Sousse](/en/tunisia/sousse/) page.

## What depends on the season

A 2024 agency fact sheet gave an opening season from 1 May to 31 October. The official website now lists heating from 15 November to 15 March, and offers were published for March 2027: the hotel appears to open in winter, but Sabaro confirms opening for every booking between November and April.

Two other dates matter:

- room air conditioning runs from 15 June to 15 September; in May and October the days are warm and the rooms have no air conditioning;
- heating runs from 15 November to 15 March.

Most Europeans come between April and October. Ramadan 2027 is expected from 8 February to 9 March.

## Price and tourist tax

In October 2026, for two nights from 9 March 2027, the cheapest room was offered on the official website at about €115 a night for two adults, breakfast and taxes included, on a non-refundable rate.

The tourist tax is paid on top at the hotel: 12 Tunisian dinars (TND) per person per night in four- and five-star hotels, about €3.60 at the Central Bank of Tunisia rate of 19 October 2026, for up to ten nights. See our [money in Tunisia](/en/guides/argent-tunisie/) guide.

## Sabaro's view

**Who for**: families with children aged 4 to 12; couples who want a space of their own in Star Prestige; golfers.

**Strengths**: the beach in front of the hotel, the Star Prestige area, the age-grouped kids' club, the nearby golf course, and a 4.5 out of 5 rating on Tripadvisor (5,291 reviews).

**Worth knowing**: air conditioning only runs from 15 June to 15 September; the spa is not a thalasso centre.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Iberostar Diar el Andalous adults-only?

No. The hotel welcomes families, but it has a Star Prestige area for guests aged 16 and over, with its own reception, panoramic lounge and hot tubs, which comes with the Star Prestige junior suites.

### Is the hotel open in winter?

The official website lists heating from 15 November to 15 March and was selling stays for March 2027. An older agency sheet gave a May-to-October season, so Sabaro checks opening before any winter booking.

### Is all-inclusive available?

Yes, an all-inclusive package is offered as an option.

### How far is Sousse?

Under 10 km; the Sousse medina is 11 km away, about 20 minutes by car.

### Is Port El Kantaoui safe?

None of the foreign ministries Sabaro follows advises against the Sahel coast; several ministries ask for heightened vigilance in tourist areas. On 26 June 2015 an attack struck a hotel in Port El Kantaoui. Details are in our [Tunisia safety](/en/guides/securite-tunisie/) guide.
