# Barceló Mussanah Resort

Barceló Mussanah Resort is a 4-star beach resort of 234 rooms and 74 apartments at Mussanah, on the Batinah coast, 99 km from Muscat airport. A 1,200 m² water park, four pools, a private beach and an all-inclusive option make it a budget-friendly family address, from about €120 a night with breakfast, at a lower level of comfort than Muscat's 5-star resorts.

Barceló Mussanah Resort is the resort for families looking for a gentle price in Oman: a 4-star beach property with a water park, four pools, a private beach and two-bedroom apartments at Mussanah, on the Batinah coast, about an hour's drive north-west of Muscat airport. It is run by the Spanish hotel group Barceló for OMRAN, Oman's state-owned tourism development company, and was formerly the Millennium Resort Mussanah.

## A 4-star for families

Unlike the Muscat hotels we have chosen, this is a 4-star resort, and it shows: simpler rooms and a score of 7.7 out of 10 on Booking.com (2,465 reviews), well below the Muscat resorts that score around 9. In return, the price is two to four times lower than at the capital's 5-star resorts, and there is a water park and an all-inclusive option. See [family](/en/themes/family/).

## Water park and pools

- The **Splash Waterpark**, covering 1,200 m².
- **Four pools** facing the Gulf of Oman, including a children's pool.
- A **private beach** with 10 cabanas, water sports, a tennis court, mini golf and beach volleyball.

Parents have the **369 Spa**: 10 treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, hot tub and gym. The spa is for over-18s only.

## Rooms and apartments

Every room and apartment has a balcony, nearly all facing the sea; what changes is the space. The **Superior** suits a couple or a family with one child. For a family of four, the **Junior Suite** adds a separate living room. The **Two-Bedroom Apartments**, with a bathtub, work for two families or a large one.

## All-inclusive or breakfast?

The resort offers an all-inclusive programme, handy when children are hungry at all hours. There are three restaurants and a bar:

- **Mydan**, international;
- **Azure**, Mediterranean, fish and seafood;
- **La Dolce Vita**, Italian;
- the **pool bar**.

The rate we found includes breakfast only; Sabaro compares both options for your dates.

## Mussanah, a long way from Muscat

The hotel is at Wudam Al Sahil, in the wilayat (district) of Mussanah, 99 km from Muscat International Airport. Its own pages give 45 minutes in one place and about an hour in another; an hour is more realistic. Muscat's sights are therefore a day trip. Closer by, in Mussanah itself, stands the 19th-century fort of Sur Burj al Khamis, and Nakhal and Rustaq, with their forts, make good excursions. See our [Batinah](/en/oman/batinah/) page.

Foreign ministries do not all give the same advice for South Batinah, where Mussanah lies: most do not name it, some advise against the surroundings of port and industrial installations, notably at Sohar, further north, and others against the whole country. Yours:

## Price

In October 2026, for a two-night stay in March 2027, the cheapest room cost about €120 a night for two adults, breakfast included, taxes and fees included, with any local taxes extra.

## Sabaro's view

**Best for**: families with children who want a water park, a beach and a controlled budget; travellers combining Muscat and the Batinah.

**Strengths**: the price; the water park and four pools; the two-bedroom apartments; the all-inclusive option.

**Worth knowing**: a 4-star, less comfortable than Muscat's resorts; a score of 7.7 out of 10; an hour's drive to Muscat; opening to be confirmed.
