The Balloons Event Show came to the Tozeur and Nefta area from 26 to 30 October 2026. Every day, hot-air balloons, paramotors (powered paragliders) and microlights (ultralight aircraft) took off over the palm groves and desert of the Jerid. On 29 and 30 October, two music nights carried the festival on at Ong Jmel, the rock in the dunes near Nefta.

## A tour of Tunisia

The Tozeur stage was part of Carthage Event Shows – Tunisia 2026, an aerial and music tour running from 23 October to 2 November 2026. The convoy travelled through Hammamet, Zaghouan, Carthage, Tozeur and Nefta, Ong Jmel, then Medenine and Djerba. It arrived in Tozeur on Sunday 25 October to set up.

## The Tozeur programme

From Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, each day followed the same pattern, in local time:

- **5 am**: hot-air balloon and paramotor flights at dawn;
- **9 am**: microlight flights;
- **5.30 pm**: more balloon and paramotor flights in the late afternoon.

The music nights at Ong Jmel started at 8 pm: on Thursday 29 October with DJ Mahmut Orhan, and on Friday 30 with DJ Francis Mercier.

The organisers warned that flights depended on the weather, especially the wind, and that the take-off site was chosen each day according to its direction. Tunisia stays on UTC+1 all year: during the festival, after Europe returns to winter time on 25 October, it was 1 hour ahead of London.

Prices for flights and evenings had not been published by mid-October; the official website has a registration form and the organisers' contact details.

## Where to see the balloons

Flights took place over the Tozeur and Nefta area. Ong Jmel, where the evenings were held, is 24 km from the Algerian border; Mos Espa, the Star Wars set, is close by. European foreign ministries do not all draw the same areas they advise against near this border. Your country's advice:

(Depends on the traveller's country: see the table on https://sabaro-travel.com/en/events/balloons-event-show/)

The [Tozeur, Nefta and the Jerid](/en/tunisia/tozeur-nefta/) page describes the region, and the [Star Wars in Tunisia](/en/guides/star-wars-tunisie/) guide covers the sets.

## Where to stay and getting there

The two addresses chosen by Sabaro are [The Mora Sahara Tozeur](/en/hotels/the-mora-sahara-tozeur/), formerly the Anantara, facing the chott, and [Dar HI Life](/en/hotels/dar-hi-life-nefta/), an 18-room eco-lodge in Nefta. Tozeur is a few hours' flight from Europe's main cities, direct or with one stop.

In October, Tozeur's average high is 29.6 °C and its average low 18.8 °C, so the early-morning flights are in cool air.
