# Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah is a palm-shaped artificial island off Dubai where every resort has its own private beach. People come for Atlantis and its water park, for the big resorts on the crescent and for the quiet; allow 40 to 60 minutes by taxi from the airport.

Palm Jumeirah is the place in Dubai to stay for a private beach and resort life: a palm-shaped artificial island reclaimed from the sea from 2001 onwards, whose outer crescent is lined with hotels that each have their own beach. You pick the Palm for Atlantis and its water park, for the big luxury resorts, or for a quiet stay away from the city. The trade-off is distance: 40 to 60 minutes by taxi from Dubai International Airport (DXB), according to Atlantis.

## An island in three parts

Seen from above, the Palm has three parts, and where you sleep shapes the trip.

- **The trunk** runs out from the coast between [Jumeirah](/en/dubai/jumeirah/) and the [Marina](/en/dubai/dubai-marina/). It carries apartment blocks, shopping centres and city hotels, as well as The Palm Tower, whose level-52 observation deck looks over the whole island.
- **The fronds**, the branches either side of the trunk, are taken up by private villas.
- **The crescent**, the outer breakwater that shelters the whole island, is resort territory. According to Wikipedia, the island had about thirty hotels in 2024, most of them on the crescent. Atlantis sits at its apex; the other resorts stretch along its eastern and western arms.

A 5.4 km monorail, opened in 2009, links the base of the trunk with Atlantis. It connects with the Dubai Tram at Palm Jumeirah station, on a separate ticket.

## Where to stay on the Palm

The five hotels in the Sabaro selection are all beach resorts, but they are aimed at different travellers. Prices recorded for two adults in March 2027, taxes and fees included according to the source, plus any nightly tourism tax.

### At the top of the crescent: the two Atlantis hotels

[Atlantis The Palm](/en/hotels/atlantis-the-palm/) is the family hotel. Unlimited access to the Aquaventure water park and the Lost World Aquarium is included in the stay, there are 34 restaurants and a kids' club with ten play areas. It is also the most reviewed: 9.2 out of 10 from nearly 19,000 Booking.com reviews. From about €600 a night.

[Atlantis The Royal](/en/hotels/atlantis-the-royal/), next door, is for couples and families who want the same park access with a higher level of service: 17 restaurants and bars, including Dinner by Heston Blumenthal with one Michelin star; 44 suites and penthouses with private pools; Cloud 22, the rooftop pool for guests aged 21 and over; breakfast included. From about €1,100 a night on a non-refundable rate.

### On the crescent: quiet and spas

[One&Only The Palm](/en/hotels/one-and-only-the-palm/) is the most intimate resort, set in a manor house and Andalusian-style mansions facing the Dubai skyline: three pools including the adults-only Safina, the only Guerlain spa in the UAE, and STAY by Yannick Alléno, a Michelin-starred restaurant. Daily access to a water park is included. From about €1,300 a night; it is the honeymoon address, see [Honeymoon](/en/themes/honeymoon/).

[Jumeirah Zabeel Saray](/en/hotels/jumeirah-zabeel-saray/), on the western crescent, is the pick for spa-goers and for value: the Talise Ottoman Spa covers 8,200 m² over two floors, with 42 treatment rooms and three hammams; the private beach is 1 km long; a 29-seat cinema and a kids' and teens' club keep younger guests busy. From about €490 a night on a non-refundable rate. See [Spa](/en/themes/spa-and-wellness/).

[Anantara The Palm](/en/hotels/anantara-the-palm/), on the eastern crescent, has the first overwater villas in the UAE and three swimming lagoons, one of them adults-only. It is the least expensive hotel in the selection on the Palm, from about €380 a night with breakfast. Mind the works: the hotel stays open but is being renovated in phases from November 2026. The main lobby is closed from 2 November 2026 to 1 May 2027, the main pool from 9 November 2026 to 1 April 2027, and work takes place from 8 am to 8 pm local time.

**To decide**: with children who want the water park every day, Atlantis The Palm; for the same park with more polish, Atlantis The Royal; as a couple, One&Only The Palm; for spa and budget, Zabeel Saray; for an overwater villa, Anantara, ideally outside the works period.

## Atlantis beyond the hotel

Atlantis's attractions are open to visitors who are not staying there.

- **Aquaventure** is a water park with a 2.3 km river and the 27.5 m Ziggurat tower; Atlantis advertises more than 105 attractions. Day tickets are sold online from about €87.
- **The Lost World Aquarium**, formerly the Lost Chambers, is the Atlantis aquarium: from AED 105, about €25, for an adult. Atlantis says its lagoon holds more than 65,000 marine animals.
- **Dolphin Bay** offers swimming with dolphins, at extra cost.

The [Theme parks](/en/themes/theme-parks/) theme compares them with Dubai's other parks.

## The Palm from above and from the sea

**The View at The Palm**, on level 52 of The Palm Tower, is open from 9 am to 7 pm local time; standard tickets are sold from about €28. In the same tower, the Aura Skypool is an infinity pool booked by time slot.

**The crescent boardwalk** is free: you walk it facing the city, ideally late in the day. Palm West Beach, on the western side, combines a beach and restaurants.

**On the water**, there is flyboarding, riding a board lifted by a water jet, for 30 minutes from about €85 and from age 13, and a discover scuba dive, a 3-hour outing with a dive to 10 m off Jumeirah, for the same price. Serious jet-ski accidents are frequent: check the insurance and insist on a life jacket for every passenger.

**In the air**, Skydive Dubai's tandem jumps fly over the Palm from its Marina drop zone; see the [Dubai Marina](/en/dubai/dubai-marina/) page.

## Getting to the rest of Dubai

The Palm is a long way from everything except the Marina. From Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Mall of the Emirates is 12 km away and the city centre 31 km, according to the hotel. To visit Downtown or Old Dubai you take a taxi or a hotel car; the tram and monorail are mostly useful for the Marina and Atlantis. The [Getting around Dubai](/en/guides/se-deplacer-dubai/) guide has the details.

A Palm stay pairs well with two nights in town in [Downtown](/en/dubai/downtown/), for Burj Khalifa and [Old Dubai](/en/dubai/old-dubai/), then an evening in the [desert](/en/dubai/desert/).

## The Palm in 2026

On 1 March 2026, during the Iranian strikes on the UAE, debris hit the Fairmont The Palm on the trunk and four people were seriously injured, according to press reports. On 5 March the hotel's general manager said it remained open; its current state could not be confirmed, and it is not part of the Sabaro selection.
